वने रणे
शत्रुजलाग्निमध्ये महार्णवे पर्वतमस्तके वा ।
सुप्तं प्रमत्तं
विषमस्थितं वा रक्षन्ति पुण्यानि पुरा कृतानि ॥ २०१
Vane rane shatrujalagnimadhye maharnave
parvatamastake va ।
Suptam pramatam vishamasthitam va rakshanti
punyani pura krutani ॥
In adverse conditions as in a forest, in war,
among enemies, in extreme conditions, on top of a mountain, sleeping or
unconscious, good deeds done in the past will protect one.
अज्ञेभ्यो
ग्रन्थिनः श्रेष्ठाः ग्रन्थिभ्यो धारिणो वराः ।
धारिभ्यो
ज्ञानिनः श्रेष्ठाः ज्ञानिभ्यो व्यवसायिनः ॥ २०२
Ajnebhyo granthinah shreshthah granthibhyo
dharino varah ।
Dharibhyo jnaninah shreshthah jnanibhyo
vysvasayinah ॥o
A well read person is better than an illiterate,
one who grasps what he reads is better than just a reader, one who assimilates
what is read is better than one who grasps, one who puts to use what is
assimilated is better than one who assimilates.
रत्नैः महाहेः
तुतुषुः न देवाः न भेजिरे भीमविषेण भीतिम् ।
अमृतं विना न
पययुः विराममं न निश्चिदर्थात् विरमंति धीराः ॥ २०३
Ratnaih mahaheh tutushuh na devah na bhejire bhimavishena
bhitim ।
Amrutam vina na payayuh viramam na nishchidarthan
viramanti dhirah ॥
While the churning of the ocean, gods did
not stop even after recovering jewels. They did not stop till the desired
nectar was received. Similarly, brave committed persons will not stop till the
goal is reached.
उदारस्य तृणं
वित्तं शूरस्य मरणं तृणम् ।
विरक्तस्य तृणं
भार्या निस्पृहस्य तृणं जगत् ॥ २०४
Udarasya trunam vittam shurasya maranam
trunam ।
Viraktasya trunam bharya nispruhasya trunam
jagat ॥
For the generous money is insignificant,
for the brave death is insignificant, for one without passion even a wife is
insignificant and for one who is without desire the world is insignificant.
सन्तप्तायसि
संस्थितस्य पयसो नामापि न जायते मुक्ताकारतया तदेव नलिनीपत्रस्थितं राजते ।
स्वात्यां
सागरशुक्तिमध्यपतितं सन्मौक्तिकं जायते प्रायेणोत्तममध्यमाधमदशा संसर्गतो जायते ॥ २०५
Santaptayasi samsthitasya payaso namapi na
jayate muktakarataya tadeva nalinipatrasthitam rajate ।
Svatyam sagarashuktimadhyapatitam sanmauktikam
jayate prayenottamamadhyamadhamadasha samsargato jayate ॥
A drop of water on a hot plate cannot be
noticed. A drop on a lotus leaf shines like a pearl. Rays from the Swati star
in an oyster become a pearl. Similarly, good, medium and bad status of
people depend on the company they keep.
