न पश्यति च जन्मान्धः कामान्धो नैव पश्यति ।
न पश्यति मदोन्मत्तो स्वार्थी दोषान्न पश्यति
॥ १6२१
Na pashyati cha janmandhah kamandho naiva pashyati ।
Na pashyati madonmatto svarthi
doshanna pashyati ॥
One who is born blind is not able to see, one
who is possessed with lust is also not able to see, one who is excessively
arrogant is again blind and a person possessed with selfish motives is unable
to see any fault in his actions.
गवामर्थे ब्राह्मणार्थे स्वाम्यर्थे स्वीकृतेऽथवा ।
स्थानार्थे यस्त्यजेत्प्राणांस्तस्य लोकाः सनातनाः ॥ १6२२
Gavam
arthe brahmaṇarthe svamyarthe svikrute athava ।
Sthanarthe yastyajetpranamstasya
lokah sanatanah ॥
One who
gives up his life for the sake of nature, or a learned man, or his master, or a
woman, or his country, attains liberation.
बलिनो बलमाहन्ति भीतिश्चित्ते कृतास्पदा ।
रिपोर्बिभ्यत् स्वदौर्बल्यात्सबलं कुरुते रिपुम्
॥ १6२३
Balino balamahanti bhitishchitte krutaspada ।
Riporbibhyat
svadaurbalyatsabalam kurute ripum ॥
Even if a person is very strong, the fear in
his mind kills his valour and
due to his weakness, he fears his enemy, thereby making him
stronger.
नितरां नीचोSस्मीति त्वं खेदं कूप मा कृथाः ।
अत्यन्तसरसह्रदयो यतः परेषां गुणग्रहीतासि ॥ १6२4
Nitaram nicho asmiti tvam khedam
kupa ma kruthah ।
Atyantasarasahrudayo yatah
paresham gunagrahitasi ॥
Do not consider yourself unfit
and in deep waters.
You have a good heart and see
the good in others.
सन्तोषस्त्रिषु
कर्तव्यः स्वदारे भोजने धने ।
त्रिषु चैव न कर्तव्योSध्ययने तपदानयोः ॥ १6२5
Santoshastrishu
kartavyah svadare bhojane dhane ।
Trishu
chaiva na kartavyo adhyayane tapadanayoh ॥
One should be contented with three things that come to his
lot, namely one’s wife, food that one gets and wealth that one earns. One
should never be contented with three things, namely, learning, religious
austerity, donations to charity.
न शरन्मेघवत् कार्यं वृथैव घनगर्जितम् ।
परस्यार्थम् अनर्थं वा प्रकाशयति नो महान् ॥ १6२6
Na sharanmeghavat karyam
vruthaiva ghanagarjitam ।
Parasyartham anartham va prakashayati
no mahan ॥
It is in vain to thunder like the
autumnal clouds.
The wise do not reveal what they seek or
not seek from others.
विद्याविनयोपेता हरति न
चेतांसि कस्य मनुजस्य ।
मणिकाञ्चनसंयोगो
जनयति लोकस्य लोचनानंदम् ॥ १6२7
Vidya vinayopeta harati na chetamsi kasya
manujasya ।
Manikanchana
samyogo janayati lokasya lochananandam ॥
Who can restrain from liking
a well-educated man who is also humble?
A gem embedded in gold is very pleasing to the
eyes the world over.
एकः स्वादु न भुञ्जीत नैकः सुप्तेषु जागृयात् ।
एको न गच्छेदध्वानं नैकश्चार्थान्प्रचिन्तयेत् ॥ १6२८
Ekah svadu na bhunjita naikah supteshu jagruyat ।
Eko na gachchedhvanam naikashcharthanprachintayet ॥
One should
never enjoy a sumptuous meal alone and never disturb another’s
deep sleep.
One should never venture on a journey alone and never worry
alone about
acquiring wealth.
कामात्क्रोधादविज्ञानाद्हर्षाद्बाल्येन वा पुनः।
विधर्मकाणि कुर्वन्ति तथा परिभवन्ति च ॥ १6२9
Kamatkrodhadavijnanadharshadbalyena va punah ।
Vidharmakani kurvanti tatha paribhavanti cha ॥
People for the sake of enjoyment or under anger or due to
ignorance or while under excitement or just being immature, sometimes perform
acts, which are contrary to dharma and become failures in their lives.
अनुकम्प्यो नरः पत्न्या पुष्टो रक्षित एव च ।
प्रपतेद्यशसो दीप्तात्स च लोकान्न चाप्नुयात् ॥ १6३०
Anukampyo Narah patnya prushto
rakshita eva cha ।
Prapatedhyashaso diptatatsa cha lokanna chapnuyat ॥
Pitiable is the life of a man who
lives on the earnings of his wife.
Such a man is deprived of fame,
brightness. and loses heaven.
