काव्य शास्त्र विनोदेन कालो गच्छति धीमताम्  
व्यसनेन च मूर्खाणां निद्रयाकलहेन वा। ।। १५

Kavya shastra vinodena kalo gacchati dhimatam |
Vyasanena cha murkhanam nidrayakalahena va ||

Intelligent people spend their time in the study of literature
Idiots spend time in addiction, sleep or quarrel.

सत्यं माता पिता ज्ञानं धर्मो भ्राता दया सखा ।
शान्तिः पत्नी क्षमा पुत्रः षडेते मम बान्धवाः ॥ १६

Satyam mata pita jnanam dharmo bhrata daya sakha |
Shantih patni Kshama putrah shadete mama bandhavah ||

Truth is my mother, Knowledge my father, Righteousness is my brother
Compassion my brother, Peace is my wife and Tolerance my son. These
Six are my kith and kin.

सु:खार्थिनो कुतो विद्या विद्यार्थिनः कुतो सुखं ।
सुखार्थी वा त्यजेत विद्याम् विद्यार्थी वा त्यजेत सुखं ।। १७

Sukharthino kuto vidya vidyarthinah kuto sukham |
Sukharthi va tyajet vidyaam vidyarthi va tyajet sukham ||

How will those who enjoy luxuries get knowledge, how will a student enjoy
Luxuries. Luxury enjoyers should give up education and students should give up luxuries.


काममया एव अयं पुरुष इति सा यथाकामो भवति तत्क्रतुर् भवति ।
यात्क्रतुर् भवति तत् कर्म कुरुते यत् कर्म कुरुते तद् अभिसम पद्यते ॥ १८

Kamamaya eva ayam purusha iti sa yathakamo bhavati tatkratur bhavati
Yatkratur bhavati tat karma kurute yat karma kurute tad abhisama padyate

This man is full of desire. Where there is desire, there will be will.
Where there is will there will be deeds, As the deeds are, so will be destiny.

कः कालः कानि मित्राणि को देशः को व्ययागमौ ।                                   
कस्याहं का च मे शक्तिः इति चिन्त्यं मुहुर्मुहुः ॥ १९

Kah kalah kani mitrani ko deshah ko vyayagamau |
Kasyaham ka cha me shaktih iti chintyam muhurmuhuh ||

What kind of times, who are my friends, how is my country, what goes out
And what comes in? Who do I belong to, what is my strength? Are the things one has to think time and again.

षड् दोषाः पुरुषेणेह हातव्य भूतिमिच्छता ।
निद्रा तन्द्रा भयं क्रोधः आलस्यं धीर्घसूत्रता ॥ २०

Shad dosha purusheneha hatavya bhutimicchata |
Nidraa tandra bhayam krodhah alasyam dhirgasutrata ||

One wishing to prosper in life should suppress six faults.
Oversleeping, lethargy, fear, anger, laziness and procrastination.
