न कर्माणामनारम्भानैष्कर्म्यं पुरुषोश्नुते ।
न च संन्यसनादेव सिद्धिं समाधिगच्छति ॥ 811
Na
karmanamanarambhanaishkarmyam purushoshnute ।
Na
cha samnyasanadeva siddhim samadhigachchati ॥
By merely giving up all activities of the world a person
does not become a Sanyasi or attain liberation (Moksha)
नास्ति
बुद्धिरयुक्तस्य न चायुक्तस्य भावना ।
न चाभावयतः शान्तिरशान्तस्य कुतः सुखम् ॥ 812
Nasti buddhirayuktasya na chayuktasya bhavana ।
Na chabhavayatah shantirashantayasya kutah sukham ॥
For one who is not tranquil, there is no
knowledge. For one who is
not tranquil there is no contemplation, and
for one who is not contemplative,
there is no peace. For one who has no peace,
how can there be happiness?
पादाहतं यदुत्थाय मूर्धानमधिरोहति ।
स्वस्थादेवापमानेऽपि देहिनस्तद् वरं रजः ॥ 813
Padahatam yaduthaya
murdhamadhirohati ।
Svasthadevapamane api
dehinastad varam rajah ॥
Dust when kicked with the foot rises up and
climbs to the head.
It is better than the person who remains fine
even on being humiliated.”
विनयफलं शुश्रूषा गुरुशुश्रूषा फलं श्रुतं
ज्ञानम् ।
ज्ञानस्य फलं विरतिः विरतिफलं चाश्रवनिरोधः ॥ 814
Vinayaphalam shushrusha gurushushrusha phalam
shrutam jnanam ।
Jnanasya phalam viratih viratiphalam
chashravanirodhah ॥
Result of
courteousness is service, result of service to a teacher is knowledge,
Result of
knowledge is detachment, result of detachment is salvation.
द्विविधो जायते व्याधिः शरीरो मानसस्त्तथा ।
परस्परं तयोर्जन्म निर्द्वन्द्वं नोपलभ्यते ॥ 815
Dvividho jayate vyadhih shariro manasastatha ।
Parasparam tayorjanma nirdvandvam nopalabhyate ॥
There are two
kinds of diseases, physical and mental.
They are
interdependent. Neither exists independently.
