आचारः कुलमाख्याति देशमाख्याति भाषणम् ।
संभ्रमः
स्नेहमाख्याति वपुराख्याति भोजनम् ॥ 881
Acharah kulamakhyati
deshamakhyati bhashanam ।
Sambhramah snehamakhyati
vapurakhyati bhojanam ॥
One’s comportment indicates lineage, one’s speech
indicates one’s land,
One’s excitement indicated friendliness, one’s body
incates food habits.
चित्ते प्रसन्ने भुवनं प्रसन्नं चित्ते विषण्णे
भुवनं विषण्णम् ।
अतोऽभिलाषो यदि ते सुखे स्यात् चित्तप्रसादे
प्रथमं यतस्व ॥ 882
Chitte prasanne
bhuvanam prasannam chitte vishanne bhuvanam vishannam ।
Ato abhilasho yadi te
sukhe syat chittaprasade prathamam yatasva ॥
If the mind is happy, the entire world seems happy, If
it is sad, the world
seems sad. If you desire happiness, try to be happy in
your mind first.
सुखमापतितं सेव्यं दुःखमापतितं तथा ।
चक्रवत् परिवर्तन्ते दुःखानि सुखानि च ॥ 883
Sukhamapatitam sevyam
dukhamatitam tatha ।
Chakravat
parivartante sukhani sukhani cha ॥
One should experience happiness that falls on one just like experiencing sadness. Happiness and sadness keep happening in one’s life like the turn of a wheel.
यत्कर्म कृत्वा कुर्वंश्च करिष्यंश्चैव लज्जति
।
तज्ज्ञेयं विदुषा सर्वं तामसं गुणलक्षणम् ॥
884
Yatkarma krutva
kurvamshcha karishyashchaiva lajjati ।
Tajjnaeyam vidusha
sarvam tamasam gunalakshanam ॥
If after committing an act, one is ashamed about it,
then the act is considered to be a sinful act.
न च हसति नाभ्यसूयति न परान् परिभवति नानृतं
वदति ।
नाक्षिप्य कथां कथयति लक्षणमेतत् कुलीनस्य
॥ 885
Na cha hasati
nabhyasuyati na paran paribhavati nanrutam vadati ।
Nakshipya katham
kathayati lakshnametat kulinasya ॥
Neither ridicules, nor feels jealous, nor humiliates,
nor tells a lie,
nor talks interrupting others-these are the qualities of
a well-born person.
