जीविते यस्य जीवन्ति विप्रा मित्राणि बान्धवाः ।
सफलं जीवितं तस्य आत्मार्थे
को न जीवति ॥ 1096
Jivite yasya jivanti vipra mitrani bandhavah l
Saphalam jivitam tasya atmarthe ko na jivati ॥
One who influences
lives of friends, relatives and wise people is the
one whose life is
worthwhile. But who in this world lives without selfish motives?
पुराणमित्येव न साधु सर्वं न चापि
काव्यं नवमित्यवद्यम् ।
सन्तः परीक्ष्यान्यतरद्भजन्ते
मूढः परप्रत्ययनेयबुद्धिः ॥ 1097
Puranamityeva na sadhu sarvam na chapi kavyam
navmityavadyam l
Santah parikshyanyataradbhajante muddhah
parapratyayaneyabuddhih ॥
Not all literature that is old is good. Not all modern literature should be condemned. Wise men choose good ones only after proper examination. Idiots go by others' judgement.
अर्था दु:खं परित्यक्तुं पालिताश्चापि तेऽसुखा: ।
दु:खेन चाधिगम्यन्ते तेषां नाशं न चिन्तयेत् ॥ 1098
Artha dukham parityaktum palitashchapi
te sukhah l
Dukhena chadhigamyante tesham nasham na chintayet ॥
It is difficult to abandon
wealth, keeping it causes hostility, acquisition
of it takes pains. Therefore,
one should not grieve if one loses it.
ज्ञान शक्ति समारूढः तत्वमाला विभूषितः l
भुक्ति मुक्ति प्रदाता च तस्मै
श्री गुरवे नमः ॥ 1099
Jnana shakti samarudah tatvamala vibhushitah l
Bhukti mukti pradata cha tasmai shrii gurave namah ॥
Salutations to the guru who
is rooted in knowledge that is power,
adorned with the garland of
truth and who is the bestower of the joy of liberation.
आत्मनः परितोषाय कवेः काव्यं तथापि तत् ।
स्वामिनो देहलीदीपसमं अन्योपकरकम् ॥ 1100
Atmanah paritoshaya kaveh kavyam
tathapi tat l
Svamino dehalidipasamam anyopkarakam ॥
Poets compose poetry for satisfying their own souls. However,
like the
light on the compound of the master’s house, it is also
for others’ benefit.
