Yauvanam dhana sampattih prabhutvamavivekata
Ekaikamapyanarthaya kimu yatra chatushtayam

Any one of youth, wealth, power and indiscretion can singly cause disaster.
What will happen if all the four traits are there in a person?

Tyaktavyo mamakarastyaktum yadi shakyate nasau
Kartavyo mamakarah kintu sa sarvatra kartavyah

Give up the thought that ‘This thing is mine’. If not possible,
Think that what is yours also belongs to everyone.

What can you do with a cow which neither gives a calf nor milk?
What use is the birth of a son who is neither learned nor respectful?

Priyamevabhidhatavyam nityam satsu dvishatsu va
Shikhiva kekam madhuram vacham brute janapriyah

One should always speak in sweet words whether with good people or enemies. A popular man speaks with sweet words like the sound of a peacock.

Anagatavidhata cha pratyutpannamatishcha yah
Dvameva sukhamedhate dirghasutri vinashyati

A person with foresightedness and ready wit can manage the unforeseen
and be comfortable  while the procrastinator is faced with failure.
