अविदितपरमानन्दो
वदति जनो विषयमेव रमणीयम् ।
तिलतैलमेव मृष्टं
येन न दृष्टं घृतं क्वापि ॥ २३६
Aviditaparamanando vadati jano vishayameva smaraniyam ।
Tilatailameva mrushtam yena na drushtam ghrutam kvapi ॥
Those who have not experienced supreme happiness will say
only
material pleasures are enjoyable. Like saying that sesame
oil is tastiest by people who have not tasted ghee.
लोकिकानां हि
साधूनां अर्थं वागनुवर्तते ।
ऋषीणां
पुनरादयानां वाचं अर्थोनुधावती ॥ २३७
Lokikanam hi sadhunam artham vaganuvartate ।
Rishinam punaradayanam vacham arthonudhavati
॥
For average ordinary
individuals, meaning closely follows the word associated.
For sages and thinkers, meaning precedes the associated
word.
आपद्युन्मार्गगमने
कार्यकालात्ययेषु च ।
अपृष्टेनापि
वक्तव्यं भृत्येन हितमिच्छता ॥ २३८
Apadyunmargagamane karyakalatyeshu cha ।
Aprushtenapi vaktavyam bhrutyena
hitamicchata ॥
When the master is going down a dangerous
path or not doing pending work,
a loyal servant must speak out even without
being asked.
अग्नौ दग्धं जले
मग्नं हृतं तस्करपार्थिवैः ।
तत्सर्वं
दानमित्याहुर्यदि क्लैब्यं न भाषते ॥ २३९
Agnau dagdham jale magnam hatam
taskaraparthivaih ।
Tatsarvam danamityahuryadi klaivyam na
bhashate ॥
Burnt in a fire, drowned in water, stolen,
confiscated by the king,
material losses, if treated as to charity
will not cause grief.
यस्मिन् देशे न
संन्मानो न मित्राणि न बांधवाः ।
न च विद्यागमः
कश्चितं देशं परिवर्जयेत् ॥ २४०
Yasmin deshe na sanmano na mitrani na bandhavah ।
Na cha vidyagamah kashchitam desham parivrajet ॥
The country where there is no respect, no friends, no
relatives, no way to learn, such a country must be disregarded and given up.
