देवो रुष्टे गुरुस्त्राता गुरो रुष्टे न कश्चनः ।

गुरुस्त्राता गुरुस्त्राता गुरुस्त्राता न संशयः ॥ 906

 

Devo rushte gurustrata guro rushte na kashchanah ।

Gurustrata gurustrata gurustrata na samshayah ॥

If fortune fails one, Guru will help one. If Guru is lost no one will.

Guru is the protector without any doubt.

 

शून्यमपुत्रस्य गृहं चिरशून्यं नास्ति यस्य सन्मित्रम् ।

मूर्खस्य दिशः शून्याः सर्व शून्यं दरिद्रस्य ॥ 907

 

Shunyamaputrasya gruham chirashunyam nasti yasya sanmitram ।

Murkhasya dishah shunyah sarva shunyam daridrasya ॥

 

Empty is the house of one who has no son, forever empty of one who is friendless.All directions are empty for an idiot and everything is empty for one who is poor.

 

एकमेवाक्षरं यस्तु गुरुः शिष्यं प्रबोधयेत् ।

पृथिव्यां नास्ति तद्द्रव्यं यद्दत्वा चानृणी भवेत् ॥ 908

 

Ekamevaksharam yastu guruh shishyam prabodhayet ।

Pruthivyam nasti taddravyam yaddatva chanruni bhavet ॥

 

Even if there is one letter a Guru has taught his pupil, there is no

wealth in this world which by giving to Guru the pupil clears his debt.

 

अन्तर्वसति मार्जारी शुनी वा राजवेश्मनि ।

बहिर्बद्धोऽपि मातङ्गस् तत: किं लघुतां गत: ॥ 909

 

Antarvasati marjarī shuni va rajaveshmani ।
Bahirbaddho api matangas tatah kim laghutam gatah ॥

A female cat or a dog may reside inside a royal mansion.

Why would the elephant tied outside be considered inferior?

 

सर्वथा सुकरं मित्रं दुष्करं प्रतिपालनम् ।

अनित्यत्वात्तु चित्तानां प्रीतिरल्पेऽपि भिद्यते ॥ 910

 

Sarvatha sukaram mitram dushkaram pratipalanam ।

Anityatvattu chittanam pritiralpe api bhidyate ॥

 

Always easy to make friends but very difficult to keep up friendship.

With the mind being unsteady, love gets snapped for little reason.
