सर्वभूतदया शौचं शौचमिन्द्रियनिग्रहः ।

सत्यं शौचं मनःशौचं जलशौचं तु पञ्चमम् ॥ 911

 

Sarvabhutadaya shaucham shauchamindriyanigrahah ।

Satyam shaucham manahshaucham jalashaucham tu panchamam ॥

 

First purification is compassion towards all beings, second is control over senses,next is truth, fourth is cleanliness in the mind and washing with water is the fifth purification.

 

आपो वस्त्रं तिलास्तैलं गन्धो वा स यथा तथा ।

पुष्पाणामधिवासेन तथा संसर्गजा गुणाः ॥ 912

 

Apo vastram tilastailam gandho vas a yatha tatha ।

Pushpanamashivasen tatha samsargaja gunah ॥

 

Water, clothes, sesame seed oil smell the same as flowers when in contact with flowers, It is contact with good things that leads to good qualities.

 

अगुणकणो गुणराशिर् द्वयमपि दैवेन खलमुखे पतितम् ।

प्रसरति तैलमिवैक: सलिले घृतवज्जडत्वमेत्यन्य: ॥ 913

 

Agunakano guṇarashir dvayamapi daivena khalamukhe patitam ।
Prasarati tailamivaikah salile ghrutavajjadatvametyanyah ॥ 

 

Fate has placed two things in the mouth of the wicked - a bit of badness and a heap of goodness. Bad one spreads like a drop of oil in water and good one shrinks like ghee in water. 

 

किं चन्दनै सकर्पूरैस्तूहिनै: किंच शीतलै ।

सर्वे ते मित्रगात्रस्य कलां नाहरन्ति षोडशीम ॥ 914

 

Kim chandanai sakarpuraistuhinaih kimcha shitalai ।

sarve te mitragatrasya kalam naharanti shodashim ॥

 

Why talk about soothing substances like sandalwood, camphor or ice. They are not even one sixteenth in comparison to the soothing touch of a friend.

 

दशकूपसमा वापी दशवापीसमो ह्रदः ।

दशह्रदसमः पुत्रो दशपुत्रसमो द्रुमः ॥ 915

 

Dashakupasama vapi dashavapisamo hradah ।

Dashahradasamah putro dashaputrasamo drumah ॥

 

A pond equals ten wells, a reservoir equals ten ponds,

a son equals ten reservoirs and a tree equals ten sons.
