Sarve kshayanta nichyah patanantah samucchrayah
Samyoga viprayoganta maranntam cha jivitam

All things will ultimately get destroyed, what rises comes down.
All unions end in separation, all lives end in death.

Tatvajnasya trunam shastram virasya samarastrunam
Viraktasya trunam nari nihspruhasya nrupastrunam

For a realized person, sastras mean nothing, for a warrior a battle is nothing.
For a recluse, a woman is nothing, for a person without desires a king is nothing.

Suryam prati rajah kshiptam svachakshushi patishyati
Gurum prati kruta avajna sa tatham tasya bhavini

Dust thrown towards the sun would fall in one’s own eyes.
Insult shown towards one’s teacher would have the same effect.

Prayena khalu mandanamamarshajvalitam manah
Yasminvastuni tatkirya tadvisheshena dahyate

The mind of a dull headed person burning with anger about something,
gets further inflamed when reference is made to that object

Anandabashparomanchau yasya svechchavashamvadau
Kim tasya sadhanairanyaih kinkarah sarvaparthivah

Why would a person whose tears of joy and goose-pimples
are in control need other deeds. All kings will be his servants
