Arthasya nishchayo drushto vicharena hitoktitah
Na snanena na danena pranayaamashatena va

The meanings of wise sayings are revealed only on deep thinking. Not by bathing, or by giving charity or by doing a hundred breathing exercises.

Anna danam param danam vidya danamatah param |
Annena kshanika truptihryaavajjIvam cha vidya ||

Giving food is great charity, giving education is greater charity
Food gives momentary satisfaction, education gives value throughout life.

Udyamena hi sidhyanti karyani na manorathaih |
Na hi suptasya simhasya pravishanti mukhe mrigah ||

Any work gets accomplished by hard work and not just by desires.
Animals do not enter the mouth of a sleeping lion by themselves.

Abhimano dhanamesham chirajeevanti te janah |
Abhimanavihitanam kim dhanena kimayusha ||

samgrahaikaparah prayah samudro api rasatale
dataram jaladam pashya garjantam bhuvanopari

One who hoards will always be at the bottom – like the ocean bottom, the collector of gems and precious stones. On the other hand, one who gives to others will always be on top – like the clouds that roar on top of the world.
