Takshakasya visham dante makshikayascha mastake
Vrushchikasyavisham pucche sarvange durjanasya cha ||

A snake’s poison is in its teeth, a bee’s in its head. A scorpion’s in its
Tail, whereas an evil person has poison all over the body.

Avishramam vahedbharam shitoshnam cha na vindati |
Sasantoshastatha nityam trini shikshet gardabhat ||

Carries loads without rest, is not deterred by the heat or cold, is always
content. These three things should be learnt from the donkey.

Danena panirna tu kankanena snanena shuddhirna tu chandanena |
Manena triptirna tu bhojanena jnanena muktirna tu mundanena ||

The hand is not so well adorned by ornaments but by charitable offerings. One does not become clean by smearing sandalwood paste upon the body but by taking a bath. One does not become so much satisfied by dinner but by having respect shown to him. The salvation is not attained by
shaving one’s head but by knowledge.

Upadesha hi murkhanam prakopaya na shantaye |
Payah panam bhujanganam kevalam vishavardhanam ||

Advising an idiot leads to more aggravation than peace. Feeding milk
to a snake only serves to increase its poison.

arthanam arjane dukham arjitanam cha rakshane |
aye du:kham vyaye dukham dhig arthah kashtasanshraya ||

Painful to earn money, painful to protect earned money. Income and expenditure are painful. Fie on money, the cause of so much hardship.
