यदा किंचिज्ज्ञोहं द्विप इव मदान्धः
सम्भवम् |
तदा सर्वज्ञो अस्मित्यमभवदलिप्तं मम मनः||
तदा सर्वज्ञो अस्मित्यमभवदलिप्तं मम मनः||
यदा किंचित बुधजनसकाशात अवगतम् |
सदा मुर्खोअस्मिति ज्वर इव मदो में व्यपगतः || ४१

Yada kinchittajnoham dvipa iva madandhah
sambhavam |
Tada sarvajno asmityamabhavadaliptam mama manah
||
Yada kinchit budhajanasakashat avagatam |
Sada murkhoasmiti jvara iva me vyagatah ||
When I became a little knowledgeable, I became
arrogant like an elephant in heat. But when I moved with intelligent people, I
realized what a fool I was and my arrogance came down like a fever which is
treated.
शतेषु जायते शूरः सहस्त्रेषु च पंडितः |
वक्ता दशसहस्त्रेशु दाता भवति वा न वा || ४२
वक्ता दशसहस्त्रेशु दाता भवति वा न वा || ४२
Shateshu jayate shurah sahasreshu cha panditah |
Vakta dashasahasreshu data bhavati va na va ||
One in hundred is born a hero, one in thousand a scholar.
A good orator one in ten thousand, but a generous giver may or may not be
born.
साहित्यसंगीतकलाविहीन: साक्षात् पशुपुच्छविषाणविहीन: ।
तृणं न खादन्नपि जीवमान: तद्भागदेयं परम पशुनाम् || ४३
Sahityasangitakalavihinah
sakshat pashupucchavishanavihinah |
Trunam
na khadannapi jivamanah tadbhagdeyam parama pashunam ||
One who is devoid of literature, music and the arts is
like an animal without a tail and horns. The fact that such a person does not
eat grass makes the animals fortunate.
उद्धरेदात्मनात्मानं नात्मानमवसादयेत् ।
आत्मैव ह्यात्मनो बन्धुरात्मैव रिपुरात्मनः ॥ ४४
आत्मैव ह्यात्मनो बन्धुरात्मैव रिपुरात्मनः ॥ ४४
Uddharedatmanatmanam natmanamavasadayet |
Atmaiva hyatmanau bandhuratmaiva ripuratmanah ||
Elevate your soul with your mind, do not degrade it.
Mind is the friend of the soul and mind is its enemy.
अग्निशेषं रुणशेषं शत्रुशेषं
तथैव च ।
पुनः
पुनः प्रवर्धेत तस्मात् सेषं न कारयेत् ॥ ४५
Agnishesham runashesham satrushesham tathaiva cha
|
Punah punah pravardheta tasmat shesham na
karayet ||
Even small remainders of fire, loan and enmity
etc.,keep growing
again and again. Therefore, do not let any
remnants of such things remain.
